Educator

Since 2016 I have taught bachelor, master's and doctoral level courses related to teachers' pedagogical studies, theory, research and academic writing in the MuTri Doctoral School, and the Departments of Global Music, Arts Management, and Classical Music at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. During this time, I have been actively involved in curriculum development in both the Global Music Department and the MuTri Doctoral School, and involved with the Sibelius Academy curriculum working group for research and academic writing.

I am currently responsible (since 2020) for the Music Education Doctoral Seminar, which is the main course of doctoral studies. In this seminar doctoral researchers engage in a methodologically and theoretically robust collaborative community of practice, sharing work in progress for peer feedback and support.

Before becoming an academic, I worked for several years as a primary school music, classroom and English teacher in Egypt, Finland and Singapore.
