Danielle Treacy has expertise in diversity and collaborative learning in music education. She is a researcher in the project Music Education, Professionalism and Eco-Politics and teaches in the Sibelius Academy Faculty of Music Education, Jazz, and Folk Music Doctoral School and the Global Music Department. Previously she has contributed as a researcher in the projects Global Visions through Mobilizing Networks and Learning in and through the Arts in Higher Education.

Danielle's doctoral research focussed on the ethical and methodological deliberations involved in cross-cultural research in the majority world. This project investigated how musician-teachers' co-constructing of visions could contribute knowledge about the development of context-specific music teacher education in times of fast-paced social change and globalisation, and aimed to contribute to co-developing Nepal's first government-recognised music teacher education program.

Danielle has published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Action Research, Arts and Humanities in Higher Education, the International Journal of Music Education, Reflective Practice and Research Studies in Music Education; and in books including the The Oxford Handbook of Philosophical and Qualitative Assessment in Music Education, Visions for Intercultural Music Teacher Education and The Politics of Diversity in Music Education. She is a co-editor of the journal Nordic Research in Music Education.
